I’ve been doing pose studies from Loomis (the life draw one, specifically), and then I started having fun with it. :>
So yeah these poses are referenced from those books, FYI. Though now I know how to have more fun when I go life drawing.
2012 kinda sucked, but it was very eventful? There were a lot of growing pains and figuring out what I’m doing and what I want to do. I did almost 90 paintings in the first few months, so that was neat. I’m not making any promises but I think I’ll do that Monster Girl Challenge?
Here’s to 2013!
Some Instagram sketches. I read Ghost World recently, so the first one has a few studies for the Dan Clowes savvy. Making mouse limbs, can’t find my latex. And life draws!
3/13/12 - RIP Moebius (Jean Giraud) tribute. Gouache/ballpoint
The Electric Ant Zine blog has been doing a Moebius tribute based on a set of 89 collectors cards he did. The entire point of this daily(ish) painting thing is to re-evaluate what I’m doing and study and explore (a couple paintings from last week were actually Tintin color studies…), so it seemed like a great opportunity to study the work of a very talented and versatile artist.
I thought the composition in #26 TORPENICZEL CHOT was pretty interesting. Definitely a worthwhile exercise. Now go check-out what everyone else has been doing, there’s some really fabulous work over there.
