People keep calling me a “space cadet.” Is it that obvious that my mind is elsewhere? Truth be told, I’m thinking about butts. For this week’s issue of Greasy, I silk screened my thoughts onto an 11”x17” piece of metallic paper (with help from my friend, Hilary).
Please holler at me if you think you might want to own one. Recently some people have asked me if I sell my art so I’m thinking about doing an edition of this to put on storenvy if there’s enough interest.
Here’s my friend’s awesome screen she made during our adventure. She printed this on metallic 11x17 paper so it’s practically life sized (depending on the moon). It definitely makes me want to try out a negative-screen? Hopefully I’ll come up with a design pretty soon!
Me and my friend Ilyse figured out screen-printing from her house and made some prints. :D We used the sun to expose our emulsion (thank you CA) and Ilyse convinced me to do a split screen with an acrylic medium. The fingers are all Moomin-esque since the emulsion was under exposed and I taped them on.
It was way easier than I expected so I think next time I’m going to up the ante with a 2 color and design something specifically for print. I’m getting pretty rusty so I need to get my shit together!
Sorry I’ve been barely updating! I finished my last sketchbook so now I have this construction paper one. Might buckle down and get a scanner/printer in the future; this is hard to photograph!
Also I made my first screenprint with my buddy Ilyse! It’s of an old drawing but I made a couple split fountains (!!!) so it looks 1000% cooler. I’ll get some photos/scans soon and hopefully come up with a better design to try next time! Now to figure out registration…
My half of an art trade with my friend Caroline! She asked for a sea beastie and here’s what I delivered.
I found a map of San Francisco bay, cut out the land, glued them to a piece of wood and acrylic painted all over. Treasure Island got eaten.
Oh neat! Except for the first one, I animated all the shots of Mel & Andy in this GIF set. I think the other shots were done by Owen and Cean?
Go check out the Dark Minions pilot over here, and check out the other stop-motion pilot Tumbleaf as well!
Reblogging this to my art tumblr. Hey look I animated stuff and I can show it to people now. :D
Painting I did for a friend’s surprise b-day party yesterday. I didn’t have time to properly photograph it so here’s an iphone photo of it on her wall (which conveniently matches her party horn).
Acrylic on wood.
I’m calling this done so I can go back to other things. I think I’m happiest with the bubbles, haha.
OK let’s try this again. Evidently it’s really easy to export Flash files as animated gifs.
Work in progress! I need to update my flash reel so I animated the 4th page of that thing I’m working on. The bubbles in the last part are just roughed in; I had to send some stuff out today but hopefully I’ll finish it and get started on the rest of those pages.
Oh yeah, the “RING” doesn’t really read the way I animated it but OH WELL.
I wasn’t going to post this until I finished page 6, but then I realized page 6 is going to take forever (and I think I’m redesigning a character?) and I need to do a lot of thumbnailing. :/
UHHHH so I’m “on hiatus” (unemployed) at the moment (thanks for the support, folks!), so now that I have all this glorious freetime while waiting for projects to ramp up, I figured I do this comic experiment? Obvious panel restriction, it resets to 1 at page 6 (this part’s basically a day dream). Trying a lot of things I’m not used to so let’s see how this goes?
